# Smooth Rough Concrete Floor: How to Resurface Your Home’s Floors

Do you have an old concrete floor that’s seen better days? Don’t despair! With a little time and effort, you can turn your dull, rough concrete floor into a smooth, attractive surface.

## What You’ll Need for Smooth Concrete Flooring

Before you start your resurfacing project, be sure to have the following materials on hand:

* A power washer

* A concrete grinder (or other grinding tool)

* A vacuum

* A broom

* Concrete patching material

* Grout

* Leveling compound

* Sandpaper

* A sealer or protective coating

## Preparing the Floor for Resurfacing

The first step in resurfacing a rough concrete floor is to clean it thoroughly. Start by using a power washer to remove any dirt and debris from the surface, then use a vacuum to pick up any remaining dust. Once you’ve finished cleaning the floor, it’s time to begin grinding.

## Grinding the Rough Concrete Surface

Using a concrete grinder or other grinding tool, begin grinding away at the rough surface of the concrete. Be sure to grind evenly across the entire floor so that you don’t create any dips or divots. Once you’ve finished grinding, use a broom to sweep up any remaining dust and debris.

## Filling in Cracks and Holes

If there are any cracks, holes, or other damage on your concrete floor, now is the time to repair them. Start by using concrete patching material to fill in any cracks and holes. To get the best results, make sure to apply the patching material in thin layers and allow it to dry before applying more. Once all of the cracks and holes have been filled in, use a grout float to smooth out the patching material so that it matches the surrounding surface.

## Applying Leveling Compound and Sandpaper

Once the patching material has dried, apply a leveling compound over the entire floor. This will help create an even surface and smooth out any imperfections. Allow the compound to dry completely before moving onto the next step. After the leveling compound has dried, use sandpaper to further smooth out any remaining bumps or rough areas on the floor.

## Sealing Your Smooth Concrete Floor

Once you’ve achieved a perfectly smooth surface on your concrete floor, it’s time to seal it for protection. There are many types of sealer and protective coatings available; choose one that meets your specific needs. Apply the sealer according to manufacturer’s instructions and allow it to dry completely before walking on your newly resurfaced floor.

With some basic materials and a little elbow grease, you can easily turn your rough concrete floor into a smooth, attractive surface. Follow these steps for perfect results every time!
